Though they take much longer than other breeds to get trainedthey are very smart so much so they can open a drawn/door /cupboard to get what they want. They are reserved with strangers; some can be timid. They have a gay, clownish side.Afghan Hounds need regular exercise, else they can become destructive. They have a strong prey instinct and will chase anything that moves - including other small animals. they tend to sleep in your bed.
These are sensitive creatures, and are particularly sensitive to stress -making them very good therapy dogs.
